The Spirit of Fear

2099577192_5a620eae5b_mThe book of Second Timothy chapter 1 and verse 7. For God has not given to us a spirit of fear. But rather a spirit of power and love. And of a sound mind. When we speak of fear in a generalized sense. There are some fears which are prudent and good. For instance as I stated in one of my previous blogs. The fear of God is the very beginning of wisdom. And then of course there are some more generalized fears such as getting to close to the edge of a cliff. Or having ones hands or fingers to close to a whirring saw blade. These are all good and healthy fears to have. We can also look at such things as these. As being more of a respect for what can happen should we be drawn into think of these as being trivial or inconsequential. And of course in the sense of fearing God. If you don’t fear him. Well then I cant help you. What I am addressing is that fear that stifles an individual. The fear that turns action into stagnation. The fear that keeps you from sharing the gospel as God intended for you and I to do.

This type of fear is birthed in hell by the devil himself. My own personal reference for overcoming fear is Paul’s record of his life as an apostle. Found in Second Corinthians chapter 11.Check this out my friend. And then take a deep breath. Five times I received from the Jews 39 lashes. Three times I have been beaten with rods. Once I was stoned and left for dead. Three times I have been aboard a ship wrecked at sea. An entire night and a day I spent adrift on the sea. Many times on journeys I was exposed to perils from rivers, bandits and my own countrymen. Perils in the cities and from the unsaved. Perils in the deserts and in the sea. And perils from those who were posing as believers. Having read this we can plainly see that Paul was an overcomer. Nothing was going to stop him. And nothing was going to stop Jesus from going to the cross as well. Friends there is going to be fear in this world. And most of it is readily supplied by Satan to thwart our efforts to win souls.

I ask you to change your mind about fear. Rather than looking at it as an obstacle. God wants you to see it as an opportunity. Like another rep in the gym. Each time you face the fear that Satan puts in your path. You become spiritually stronger. First Timothy chapter 4 and verse 7.Refuse profane and old wives tales. And exercise yourselves rather in godliness. For bodily exercise profits little. But godliness is profitable in all things.Having the promise of the life that now is and that which is to come. Most Catholics have become photocopies. They have chosen the path of ease rather than that of confrontation. Do you think Paul was beaten with rods because they liked what he was saying? He had very real fears. But he was enabled by the grace of God to overcome them and accomplish great works. First John chapter 4 and verse 4. Greater is he that is in you. Than he that is in the world. God is in you and he is waiting for you to act. He has created you to be a unique individual in him. You are not the Prophetic Pundit. I am the Prophetic Pundit. God has something for you to begin doing right now like me. A copy of a Van Gogh can be bought for 20 dollars. An original will set you back 200 million dollars. You are an original masterpiece of God. The problem is that nobody knows that yet.

Second Corinthians chapter 10 verse 5.Cast down your imaginations. And everything that try’s to exalt itself against the knowledge of God. And bring into captivity every thought. Putting it under obedience to Christ. Stop your endless jabbering with your neighbors and coworkers. About your thoughts and their thoughts pertaining to everything under the sun. Like everything I am writing about. The sooner you realize that you are being used as  a tool of the devil. The sooner you can start to turn things around and actually do some good with your life in Christ. The only thing of value in the end will be that which is written in Gods eternal word and what you have done with it. The fear ends today…To be continued

2596679706_0e01f98c58_mAnd now for a little blogaroo for all of you spiritual gardeners out there. Whatever is in your garden beds at the time of your feeding…is going to grow. Food is in fact food for all things green. But what about feeding our spirit man? The bible tells us some rather unique things regarding feeding ourselves. First of all scripture teaches us that whoever tends to the flesh man…will fulfill the lusts of the flesh. And Jesus tells us in Mark chapter 8 verse 34 the following. Whoever wishes to be a follower of me. Let him or her deny themselves. And take up their own cross and follow me.

Self denial it not something that is readily taught in our society. What is taught is that I want more. I need more. And I want and need more now! Not tomorrow. Now! The cold hard fact of Christianity is this. You and I aside from Christ are utterly wretched and despicable human beings at best. OH I know…not you. But everyone else besides you. It was the apostle Paul who said the following. Oh wretched man that I am. Who can deliver me from this body of death? Jesus said to pick up your cross and follow him. We are the only religion who uses an instrument of torture to represent our faith. And with good reason. Like master…like servant. Our walk is going to have suffering and denial. And plenty of it if you hope to get anywhere. Which brings us straightway to fasting. We read the  gospels how the apostles were unable to cast out certain demons. Having had success with doing so to others. They found themselves in a bit of a quandary. So they asked the master why? Jesus replied quite simply. This type comes out only with much prayer and fasting. And now I am preaching to you and me.
Second Corinthians 12 verse 9.

Jesus is speaking…My grace is sufficient for you. For my strength is made perfect in weakness…The bible says that Jesus takes the weak things of this world to combat those things which are strong. What did Jesus do prior to his meeting with Satan? He fasted for 40 days and 40 nights. As it pertains to a human being. He was more than likely in the absolute weakest state that a man could be in at the moment of combat. This goes totally against what we are taught from our youth. Eat your food son. You are going to need your strength today at practice. But for us…the flesh accounts for nothing. The flesh is actually at the root of our entire battle as Christians. And to combat the flesh and its incessant urges. Our only weapon against it is to pray more and eat less. In other words we are to tend to the things of the spirit and not this lump of humanity.

Demons do not fear a 300 lb. weightlifter. They fear a 90 year old black lady who is weak, feeble and prayed up. Can you dig that daddy-o? Oh praise be to God! If you and I can take hold of this and run with it. We can crush the enemy in these last days! To deny feeding the flesh is to in reality feed the spirit. Did you get that you blog reading buffoon? As it pertains to the spirit of man. Less is indeed more. So stop eating those crumb buns fatso. And pickup your bible for a real meal. The next time those hot pants catch your eye. Start praying. If you begin to do these things on a regular basis. The change in you will be both remarkable and unmistakable. Now put that in your corn cob and smoke it Jackson!….To be continued

Law Abiding Citizens

3909061203_5ffcb5aaf0_mThe book of Joshua chapter 1 verses 8 and 9..This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth. But you will meditate on it both day and night. That you may observe to do all that is written within it. For then will your ways be prosperous and you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? To be strong and of good courage. And to not be afraid or dismayed. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go….This my friend is where it all began. God came down to meet a man named Moses on the mountain top. He gave him a set of commandments that the people who were to be called according to his name were to follow. And his promise was that he would be their God and they would be his people. But the promises were not given without stipulations. Obedience by the people to what God asks of them being the stipulation. Laws are for the lawless. Rarely does a law abiding citizen find themselves on the wrong side of the law. And should this occur an apology is generally enough to wash away any penalties that may have been applicable.

So many times during the New Testaments writings about Jesus. After he had interactions with individuals who needed deliverance or healing. He said to them.. go your way and sin no more. And so it is that sin is nothing more and nothing less than what we would call a criminal act in the natural realm. If you sin you have broken the law. Compare it if you will to any other natural crime that is committed. The punishment is usually commensurate with the crime. And if it is  a somewhat petty offense. You may get off relatively easy. That is to say if its the first go round. But if you are seen to have not learned your lesson. And you commit more offenses. The penalties for your actions become greater. But in the kingdom of heaven… sin is sin. The Book of Romans chapter 3 verse 23…For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

And so in this one scripture alone. And there are many others. God levels the playing field for all of humanity. All of us are guilty as charged. And for those of you who will persist in thinking that you are not a sinner. The old he or she is a good person rap. In First John chapter 1 verses 9 and 10 we read as follows…If we confess our sins. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins. And to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. But if we  say that we have not sinned. We make God out to be a liar. And his word is not in us….Now I don’t know about you. And frankly you probably don’t even care. But as for myself. I don’t ever want to position myself as calling God a liar. All that God has ever asked of man is be responsible and culpable for his or her own actions. This is what the act of repentance is all about. It is a self realization and confession… that on has done something wrong. And they know it. But it doesn’t end there. The individual must then have the self desire to right the wrong if possible. Or at the very least have the willingness to not do the same  anymore.

My personal belief about the majority of the immigrants who enter into our country. Is that they are coming here because they know that we have laws which are enforced. And that they can at the very least live in a relatively protected and lawful society. Something that many cannot do in their own country. The problem begins with their breaking of the very laws by which they hope to become protected by… in coming here by illegal means. For some this is nothing more than a vicious cycle of sin in their lives which needs to be broken. They are perpetual lawbreakers in their own societies to one degree or another. And this carries over into their entry into our own country. Sin knows no boundaries. It is prevalent in all of mankind. In the Central American country that my wife comes from. People are actually prisoners within certain communities. There is such widespread corruption and crime… both in and out of the government. That people have to… for their own safety. Avoid certain areas and peoples all together for their own  well being. My wife by the way…did everything in the proper and legal format. In order to become a U.S. citizen long ago. So it can and is done all the time. Don’t buy into this nonsense that severe border vetting is not necessary. The vetting process that our own government officials go through to achieve public office. Is at the very least as vigorous if not more so. We want immigrants. We don’t want criminals or those who mean us harm….To be continued

Good Friday

6429287413_c408e05f4f_mFrom the Webster’s dictionary. I present you with the definition of the word excruciating…Extremely painful; causing intense suffering; unbearably distressing; torturing. Many do not know. That this word was derived from the crucifix. Or to be crucified. This is Good Friday. The day which some two thousand years ago, our Lord Jesus Christ allowed for himself to be brutally tortured. Followed by being nailed to a crucifix for the sins of the world. I do not know if I personally will ever fully comprehend this action of our God for us. And voluntarily as well. Jesus openly admitted  in the garden. When the Jews and the soldiers came to apprehend him. In Matthew chapter 26 verse 53 the following…Do you think that I cannot pray to my Father at this very minute? And he will send me more than twelve legions of angels to help me. But how then will the scriptures be fulfilled that this must be?

I know that many of you wonder just as I do. Why such a plan for humanity? And why would God Almighty himself, enter into such a scenario? The answer for me and more than likely for you. Is that we don’t know. All we can do is accept what we have been given. And we have been given allot. I know this is a ridiculous statement. But I am confident that you as well have thought it. If I was God I would not have done that. It is an event which is unequivocally beyond our scope of understanding. Jesus was killed this day some two thousand years ago. And rose from the dead on Easter Sunday. Having defeated both hell and death. And having redeemed we that believe in him with his sacrificial blood. That we may have eternal life with him. The scripture tells us. That as many as believe in him. To them he gave the power of eternal life. This is a good time of year to reflect and ask ourselves. What exactly am I doing with the life that I have been given? As it relates to my walk with Jesus Christ. And ask yourself this. Will I continue to be the filthy sinful wretch, ignoring the call of God on my life, and doing whatever I want to day in and day out? Answer the question honestly. Put on some decent respectable clothes. Go to church and confess your sins. And begin your new life in Christ starting today….God Bless You…And Happy Easter to All……To be continued

I Have Joy Like a River

26732349576_396e0a1af8_mWhat makes you happy? The answer to this simple question will tell me everything I need to know about you. And it will also tell me whether or not you are an heir to salvation. In other words…that you are in fact saved by the blood of Jesus. And to make your answering a little dicey. Let me tell you just some of the things that make me happy. I like to surf fish while singing songs of praise and praying. I like praying the Chaplet of divine mercy while in Eucharistic adoration. I like listening to great preachers like Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen, Billy Graham and many others. I enjoy theological discussions about the faith.

I like church history and learning about the saints. I like reading my bible. I like anything that has to do with praying. I like hearing testimonies from people who have been healed by the power of God. I like hearing of miracles and life changing transformations. I like to DVR papal masses from Rome and watching them several times. I like going to church  with my wife. And I like talking about Jesus. These are but a few of my favorite things in life. Now its your turn. Please do tell me what you like. Proverbs 16 verse 20. Happy is the man who trusts in the Lord…That would be coming from the God who created you by the way. Romans 14 verse 17..For the kingdom of God is not comprised of meat and drink. But righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. There is great joy and peace to be found in walking with Christ.

It is both tangible and real to those of us who know it. It lingers deep within the soul. And nobody can take it from you. It is with me in the good times and the bad. It is both strength to my members and marrow to my very bones. OH… I am so sorry. I talk so much sometimes I forget to listen. My apologies. You were about to tell me what makes you happy when I so rudely interrupted. Please go right ahead…To be continued

The Fountain

4332584989_1587cdd53d_mThe Epistle of James chapter 3 verse 8…But the tongue no man can tame. It is an unruly evil which is full of deadly poison. With it we bless God the Father. And with it we curse men. Men who are made in the image of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessings and cursing’s. This should not be. Does a fountain from the same location put out sweet water and bitter? Can a fig tree bear olives? So then no fountain can yield salt water and fresh..

Matthew 12 beginning in verse 34…For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out good things. And an evil man out of the evil treasure brings out the same. But I say to you. That every idle word that men shall speak. They shall give an account for it in the day of judgement. For by your words you shall be justified and by your words you shall be condemned…By the way…What you just read was coming from the mouth of Jesus Christ. There are many of you who will read this blog. Who cant stand me and these things of which I am speaking. And for what reason? The reality is that all I am doing is selecting scripture and applying them to the exposition of who it is we really are in our innermost being. This is what we call preaching the word. First Corinthians chapter 1 verse 18…For the preaching of the cross to those who perish is foolishness. But to us who are is the power of God to salvation.

There are many of you also who attend church. But are selective of what it is you want to hear about God. And in fact when you want to hear it. You have become a bottle with a cork in it. Not a fountain from which all can come and drink. Near me there is an artesian well. No matter what time of day or night that you walk over to it. There is fresh, clean, refreshing water bubbling out of it. And there are tracks by it as well.So all creatures great and small can partake of this fountain of life giving water. This well has a continual source from beneath the earth. And we as Christians have a continual sorce from above the earth. We receive our life giving water from the fountain of Jesus Christ. Jesus told the Samaritan women by Jacobs well. That she would be wise to ask of him for the living water which he possessed. For in so doing she would have eternal life. God doesn’t give  this living water to us so that we may hoard it. He gives us the water of life so that we may live. And that others also by our sharing what we have been given. But that requires action on our part. And you don’t want to engage in any action. Because when you share your water.. your friends will now know who gave it to you. And how grateful you are that you have been given it. And that will mean  they will now know that you are a Christian. You know…one of them.It will also mean that now you will have to start controlling your tongue in the presence of those who you are aqauianted with.In other words you will now have to either embrace the fact that you are a Christian or reject it as you are currently doing.

In the book of Joshua chapter 24 chapter 15. I believe he said it best when he was addressing the sinful lifestyle of the Israelites. And he knew that it was high time to end the bickering. And draw a line in the sand once and for all. Here is what he said to them…And if it seems an evil thing for you to serve the Lord. Choose this day who it is you will serve. Whether it be the gods your fathers served on the other side of the flood..He is talking about before Noah..Or the gods of the amorites in whose land you now live. But as for me and my household. We will serve the Lord. That my friend is called a public commitment to God. An unabashedly brazen statement to all. I am a Christian and I am proud to be a Christian. And you can feel free to pray to a can of cola if you want too.You see my friend. You also must choose this day who it is that you are going to serve. And what type of water it is that you will be serving up.Will it bring life to the drinker or death?

For out of the abundance of your own heart your mouth is speaking. And quite loudly I might add…To be continued

Pulling Down Strongholds

1948975545_40a005bd97_mA stronghold is nothing more than a well defended position. As for myself.. I associate this type of fortification with the bunkers and pill boxes of World War 11.Generally made of reinforced concrete several feet thick. With steel rods interwoven within the concrete. These were built and used by the Japanese and the German armies in areas where they were certain that the allies would come eventually. They usually had only slots built into the front and sides. Slots that were wide enough for a machine gun to move left and right in. Or a cannon barrel in the larger ones. The allies knowing that these were present in advance of most invasions. Did their best to come up with new ways to infiltrate these fortifications. But most of the time they were taken only by the loss of many lives.

Satan also has strongholds. And he also has a hierarchy in his own ranks as well. He is at the head of his demonic realm. And his minions fall in rank beneath him. Now for you novices out there…which is most of you. And in particular my Catholic brothers and sisters. You don’t know jack about Satan. And do you know what? He likes that just fine. And you are playing you and your families lives right into his trap. Knowing your enemy is crucial in every battle scenario. Including the gathering of intelligence. Now let me side track for a moment. In 1941 the United states was still neutral as far as the war was concerned. But that would soon change. However neutral we appeared to be to the world. We were not ignorant or stupid. Our government knew how things were going. And that we were unprepared in the area of intelligence. So what to do? Well as it turns out the British were well skilled in the art of spying and espionage. For they had been engaged in it for many years.

So we asked for help and help we got. Being neutral the USA set up what became known as Camp X in Canada. This was to be our new secret agent training camp. It opened one day before the Pearl Harbor attack. The people recruited to Camp X were to be trained in espionage, sabotage and the gathering of intelligence. And the man in charge was a Major Fairburn from England. On his first day he had a few recruits gathered outside standing in front of himself. As he called one of the recruits forward…motioning him to himself ..he kicked the man square in the nuts. Sending him immediately to his knees. Nice introduction eh? As the man slumped on the ground before him …he calmly addressed the other onlookers. And this is what he said. From this position …it is much easier to kill him. This set the stage in both mind and heart. That this was to be ruthless and unmerciful methodology. You must and will do whatever it takes to kill and destroy your adversary. This was the beginning of what was called the O.S.S. The precursor of todays C.I.A..They were looking for a man with the mind of a PHD who could win a bar fight. Smart and tough as nails.

You and I are up against an adversary who wants us and our families dead. If you really understood the hatred and the desire to hurt your family that Satan possesses. You would have stopped playing church a long long time ago. But you don’t. You think this is all some foolish little game.Where everyone wins and all things turn out happily ever after in the end. And that I am some over the top Christian fanatic. Who has taken this walking with God thing just a little to far for your liking. And Satan is very pleased with your thought process as well. But you are entirely wrong in your presumption. This is a ruthless and no holes barred spiritual brawl. Kill or be killed. Without mercy or regret. You and I are called by the Lord Jesus Christ to engage the devil at every front. Be they fortified positions or not. You are to be a soldier in Christ. As some of you fade away from this blog…I will continue to help those of you who are man or woman enough to stay.

The Book of Second Corinthians chapter 10. Starting in verse 3 we read as follows. For though we walk and live in the flesh. We are not carrying on our warfare in the flesh using mere human weapons. For the weapons of our warfare are not physical. That is to say weapons of flesh and blood. But they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds. The book of Ephesians chapter 6 and verse 12 says this. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. But against principalities and powers. And against the rulers of darkness in this world. And against spiritual wickedness in high places. Notice the delineation if you will used by the writers in describing the enemy. Strongholds, spiritual wickedness, darkness of this world, principalities and powers, high places.

Allow me to ask you a question. If you believe nothing else that I say or write. Do you believe that the bible is the inspired word of God? If your answer is no. Than you are in some very deep trouble my church going Catholic. If your answer is yes And even if you were unaware of these and other scriptures up to this point in time. Your eyes have now been opened to the reality of what it is we are up against. Now let me back up momentarily to Ephesians 6 and verses 10 and 11.Finally my brethren. Be strong in the Lord and in  the power of his might. Put on the entire armor of God. That you may be able to stand against the tricks and treachery of the devil. At Camp X the individuals in training were being taught advanced methodology in warcraft. They were becoming skilled in areas that the average human being will never come in contact with. And they were being taught how to dispatch an enemy combatant quickly and efficiently. All being done to win the war. And win you must also if you are to make heaven your eternal home. God is looking for a few good men and women like the Marines. Do you have what it takes? Or are you happy to continue having your spiritual ass handed to you every day of your life?.. To be continued
